MANAMI N (from Berlin, Germany)

Born in Niigata, Japan

Graduated Niigata University (Faculty of Education)

After University she worked for a company in Niigata but soon she got a new position and moved to Tokyo.

Moving to Tokyo changed her life. Getting in the huge creative input of this megacity she started her career as a musician.

During the 90s when she still was working as an office lady, she trained her voice by Kumiko Hara (1955-2005) and joined several bands as main vocalist or chorus singer.

At the end of the 90s manami started to make music with the computer. Since then she composes, writes lyrics and performs as a solo artist and as a member of the band "kamomellia"

Iｎ 2004 and 2005 she released CDs from Indie labels in Europe,one year later she quitt her office job and moved to Berlin.

MANAMI N's music is difficult to describe in terms of genre. Somehow her field is in between pop and experiment and she uses music to express very personal feelings and telling stories.

Her laptop is a tool for her to have access to various instruments and sound effects and her voice has a particular and unique sound.

For instance in her latest piece "When I was little" a 20 minute composition she structures the story of her childhood in 4 chapters, using melodic elements, noise and even Budhist sutras to merge to a very exciting journey through time and memory.

新潟大学教育学部卒

大学卒業後、新潟市内の企業に就職するもつかの間、会社より異動を言い渡され東京へ転勤する。東京での新生活で、さまざまな出会いや文化的交流に刺激され本格的に音楽活動をはじめようと思うようになる。
90 年代初頭は盲目のジャズシンガー原久美子氏（1955-2005）に師事、ボイストレーニングを行う。同時にいくつかのバンドにてメインボーカル、コーラスを担当。90 年代後半になって DTM の存在を知り、会社の仕事の傍ら自宅録音に没頭。それ以降は作詞作曲編曲・歌をこなすようになる。同時に山崎憲司氏とのユニット Kamomellia（＊立ち上げ当初は Tae という名称）を立ち上げる。

2003 年には kamomellia としてヨーロッパツアーを、2004、2005 年にはヨーロッパの 2 インディーレーベルから MANAMI N名義で CD がリリースされ、それをきっかけに 2006 年夏にドイツ・ベルリンに渡る。渡独後はパフォーマンスをメインに活動、滞在 3 年強でヨーロッパ各地の音楽または Media Art Festival、ギャラリー等に招待を受けるようになる。
MANAMI N の音楽をジャンルで区分することは難しいが、ポップミュージックと前衛音楽の間をいくそのスタイルはアートに無縁な人々とアートに深く携わっている人々双方に訴えかける力を持っている。またエネルギッシュなパフォーマンスは国や年代を越えた幅広い層に受け入れられている。
2009 年後半よりメディアアーティスト Marek Brandt(aka triPhaze)率いるドイツ・ライプチッヒの老舗インディーレーベル「Privatelektro」のメンバーとして本格的にコラボを開始。本年 4 月には渡独後初めての本格的ソロアルバムをリリースする予定。

近鉄文化サロン阿倍野校にてYumaのアシスタントを務めている。

2002年よりベリーダンスを始める。
音を女性らしく体で奏でる事を目標に現在Yuma師事の元日々探究中。
変化自在のユニットKARA-Z(カラーズ)のメンバー。
また自主イベントにも力を入れる。

DJ Helvete is a malevolent alien lifeform of possibly Canadian origin, who's been infecting the various underground scenes in Osaka for the past 5 years. Whether creating nightmarescapes of dark sounds on his own as Kanashibari, or his collaboration industrial project Drowning in Sand, or just DJing around various underground gatherings, he aims to further the cause of dark ambient music and other like-minded forms of musical terrorism. He organized various dark experimental events such as Kali Yuga Night and ....A Night of Aural Death Worship in Osaka.

ESCARRES (from France)

The story of Escarres began in 2006, when 4 friends decided to make some noise together : Mignon (drums/backing vocals), JP (guitar/backing vocals), Gaetan (main vocals) and Boris (bass/backing vocals).

In July 2006, Escarres recorded its first demo which contains five songs full of Energy and Rock’n roll. Four of them are already on a CD split released by Bent Records with Greenwald, a French deathcore band.

After 2 tours in France in 2006 and 2007, Escarres recorded 7 new songs in Le Sourd Studio. One of them is a Kid Dynamite cover that appears on the «Tribute to Kid Dynamite» compilation released by Oni Red Chords.

In March 2008, Escarres went to the Rec Studio (Geneva - Switzerland) with Serge Morattel to record its first album. This CD was mixed and mastered by Dan Coutant from West West Side Music (USA). The album has been released by the french label Oni Red Chords.
It’s called ‘Plumérid’ and contains 12 tracks of crazy chaotic punk Hardcore that reflects the personality of the four members.

In only 3 years, Escarres made 5 tours and travelled all around Europe through 11 countries for about 100 gigs. But there still are lots of galaxies to explore...

1978年京都のアンダーグランドシーンから、活動が始まったULTRA BIDEのhideを中心に活動を続けている。
関西で1番最初の自主レコード、どっきりレコード、アルケミーレコードからリリースし、
1986年にニューヨークに渡りデッド ケネディーズのジェロ ビアフラのレーベル、オルナタティブ テンタクルスからも数々のレコードをリリースし、
アメリカ、カナダ、ヨーロッパ、など勢力的にツアーをこなす。
2001年に再び京都に戻り、新たなるラインアップでDRUM & BASSのガツとしたオルナタティブ エレクトロ パンク アンダーグランドを展開して行ってる。

THRALL (from Australia)

The Tasmanian Black Metal band Thrall was formerly known as Thy Plagues. The band began in the tradition of primitive solo Black Metal (i.e. Ildjarn, Leviathan, Burzum etc…). With the addition of a bass player in 2006 the project became a duo. In this incarnation Thrall recorded the Wrath Eternal 4-track demo. No copies are currently in print though a re-issue is not out of the question. Thrall has evolved from a primitive droning blast-ridden style to a more groove-laden hypnotic sound fusing Black Metal with Doom influences.

TOM HALL (from Brisbane, Australia)

Tom Hall is a media artist based in Brisbane, Australia.

Hall's eclectic works flourish by utilising a variety of mediums, each that reflect on his varied background and interests. With a strong focus on elements of the 'everyday' Hall's practice involves considered explorations into place, space and time. Drawing inspiration from countless spaces, Hall focuses on using multiple approaches to engage and recontextualise them to the public.

Hall’s practice centres on experimentation with interest and focus on the ‘everyday’ that stems from time growing up as a child in rural isolation in Tasmania, a place Hall still feels very attached. This interest stemmed from the need to reinvent his surrounds to avoid becoming bored as he discovered and re-discovered the same surroundings. It would seem that this isolation gave Hall an enhanced ability to see and isolate viscerally appealing qualities within nature and man-made environment that others often pass by without acknowledgement.

In a live performance context Hall projects multi-channel video pieces drawing from a data base of found footage, composing and layering in real-time, this imagery is at times linked directly and indirectly to the sound, that Hall is also producing in realtime, through amplitude control. The outcome of this is a large, immersive performance that is viscerally enticing, engaging and results in the creation of hyper environment that represents the vast areas, places and music that Hall finds inspiring.

In the studio, Hall takes his interest in a variety of music qualities and uses these to combine, process and manipulate found sound and instrument experimentation. These processes involves the combination of computer based processing (Ableton Live, Max/Msp) and analog based manipulation with extensive hardware configurations, the pieces created during these processes are then composed linearly in Hall's preferred DAW or further manipulated using 'organic' procedures Hall has developed over years of experimentation. This organic manipulation sees Hall creating Reverb Chambers from old water tanks and polycarbonate bottles, replaying composition in environments they originated from and tape manipulation.

Hall has presented live performances, exhibitions and installations extensively both in Australia and abroad in the past 5 years throughout Japan, UK, Europe and America. Hall has worked, collaborated and played along side artists such as Steinbruchel, Tim Hecker, Jason Khan, Lawrence English, Takashi Kojima, Haco, Samm Bennet, Skist, Oren Ambarchi, Christoper Willits and Scott Arford.

幼少よりピアノと琴に親しむ。ロンドン在住時にクラブ、フェス、美術館等でライブを始め、一面の琴にエフェクトをかけ二対の琴柱を立てて二人で演奏する『music for two』等で「六人の女性作曲家ナイト」に出演。ミニマルから古典、現代音楽、ダンス、アンビエントまでノンジャンルで幅広い音色を探求し続け、U.K.のクリエイティブ集団TOMATOのバンドJohnny Conquestの1stアルバム『Uptown for the Americas』(Beat Records,2002)等に参加。帰国後、2004年より琴＋PCスタイルで東京を中心にライブを行い、Central East Tokyo 04にてクボタテツ、シタール奏者Aki Uedaと共演。
2007年、電子音楽レーベル涼音堂茶舗snow effectに参加、茶寮YMOを結成、Yellow Magic Orchestraの楽曲を完全邦楽化し、桑原茂一プロデュース「TVコメディクラブキング」に楽曲提供の他、涼音堂、CLUBKING主催イベントに出演、YMOの御前でも演奏する。 2008年には∞Modes Inexhaustibles∞～尽きない技法～と題し京都Metroにてフランストップチェロ奏者Eric-Maria Couturier ( Ensemble Intercontemporain）、作曲家・伊藤暁（パリ国立高等音楽院）、 有馬純寿（電子音響） とのImprovisation + Contemporary musicコンサートを行い好評を博す。その他、京都を拠点に寺社ライブハウスで演奏する女性邦楽奏者プロジェクト「ニッポン・ガールズ」、Charles Erick Billardとのユニット「Left Hand/ Right Hand」、翻訳家として訳書にポール・D・ミラーaka DJスプーキー著『リズ ム・サイエンス』（青土社,2008）や美術カタログ等、多岐に渡り活動。現在ユニット相方募集中。
